  7. Welcome to what is now going to be a regular section in this diskmag and
  8. as you might have guessed this section will be covering all those lovely
  9. extensions, past and present with bug reports, hints and tips, news on 
  10. forth coming extensions and reviews that work on both amos classic and
  11. amos pro.

  14. Well for those that dont already know, Amos pro is appearing on the
  15. january edition (dec 15) of amiga formats cover disk, which as far as
  16. I`m concerned will do no end of good the the amos scene but it be might
  17. be gutter for all those people who just went out and bought it in the 
  18. shops.

  21. Now I dont know about you but, in the last month or so a lot of my old
  22. contacts who deserted the amos scene in favour of blitz (hiss,spit)
  23. have reappeared, which is fab but I wonder why, cause I thought blitz
  24. was suppoessed to be the best thing since sliced bread !.So armed with my
  25. trusty phone I made alot of phone calls and if I said that amos can now
  26. run faster than blitz you`d probaly think that I was a nutter ?. well i`m
  27. not and the reason being is that there are a few new extensions coming
  28. out very soon which are quite simply amazing.

  31. POWER BOBS

  33. First up is an extension from POWER SOFT/MAGICKNIGHT SOFTWARE and is
  34. called quite simply POWER BOBS and, it has to be said speeds up your bobs
  35. by quite an alarming rate and now you can put more bobs on the screen
  36. in one frame than blitz. I have spent alot of time converting the majority 
  37. of source I have aquired over the years and a majority of the games ive
  38. tried have all started to run at a constant 50 frames a second, i`m 
  39. very impressed with this and I class this along with the excellent turbo 
  40. v2 as the two best extensions ever. project x in amos no problem,alien
  41. breed no problem,  infact any arcade game is now possible. This extension
  42. is a MUST for all amos users.

  44. Now the bad news, as of the 1st of december, power bobs is not yet ready for
  45. release but, being the kind people that we are, we have managed to get you
  46. a demo version which is somewhere on these 3 disks just so you can see the
  47. speed increase yourself and if you would like further information or would 
  48. like to resevre a copy simply send a S.A.E to the following address:

  58. and when POWER BOBS is ready you will be notified and of course we will also
  59. let you know in this section. There are still a load more of commands to be
  60. added some of which are rather tasty indeed. So people think amos is
  61. dead and buried ha,ha grab your copy of amos and the turbo extension and
  62. power bobs and wave it in front of their faces and blow a huge raspberry ?.

  67. As you may have already read in the news section , I recently rang up
  68. europress to find out what was happening with an aga extension and was
  69. told the following "Europress software ARE NOT releasing an aga extension
  70. nor will there be any further updates to amos classic or amos pro.".
  71. Well my personal feelings towards this are, as you can imagine not very
  72. favourable and I think its a missed opportunity but,  all is not lost.

  74. An AGA extension is on its way from a third party developer and will be 
  75. hopefully released very soon and I am hopeing to have some more news 
  76. and/or a review for the next issue (5) so be patient, it is coming 
  77. trust me.

  80. COLOUR PROCEDURES

  82. Somewhere on these 3 disks is a program called COLOURS. now for those of
  83. you who own the original craft this will not be of any use to you but,
  84. for those who don't it basicly allows you to do all maner of things with
  85. palettes and colours, ie palette banks, colour manipulation, colour
  86. speading etc and is fully documented. why did I write it ?. quite simply
  87. because I was bored ,so there.

  114. For issue 5 you can look forward to rather tasty selection of source code
  115. for the turbo extension and a review of a new intuition extension plus
  116. loads of gossip,news and if things work out something which is very 
  117. special indeed, and a huge competition. Plus, I will be demostrating how
  118. games like alien breed, project x, alladin etc can be done in amos
  119. all running at a cool 50 fps. Now some of you think im joking and that
  120. it is impossible, well, I have to disagree and I shall prove it next issue.
  121. so now you have got no excuse not to go and buy the next issue of the 
  122. worlds best amos diskmag.
